Viktor Hovland cruised to a successful defence of his World Wide Technology Championship title at Mayakoba, firing a final-round 67 to win by four strokes over a fast-finishing Carlos Ortiz.
Hovland’s advantage had grown to six strokes on the back nine, but Ortiz cut it to three with a stunning run of five birdies in six holes down the stretch.
But the young Norwegian always had plenty in hand to stroll to the finish line, and despite a few of blunders down the stretch, a closing 67 was enough to claim a four-shot triumph – his third PGA Tour victory.
