Dustin Johnson finished T17 at the RBC Heritage, where the PGA Tour made its return to the great state of South Carolina at Hilton Head Island. Coming into the week, Dustin Johnson was hoping to rekindle some of the magic from his visit to Harbour Town last April. Johnson made two birdies coming in to shoot a final round 68. This put Johnson at fifteen-under for the week and in tie for seventeenth.

On Sunday Dustin Johnson won his first PGA Tour title at the Travelers Championship in 16 months, despite blunders on the back nine. The 36-year-old lost shots on the 13th and 16th holes but a three-under-par round put him to -19 overall in Cromwell, Connecticut.

He held off compatriot Kevin Streelman ‘s challenge by one stroke. Johnson said he was proud to have won a PGA Tour title on tour, in all of his 13 straight seasons on tour. The world number three is just the third player to win a championship in each of his first 13 seasons, after Jack Nicklaus (17) and Tiger Woods (14).

“I’m definitely proud of myself for continuing the streak – it was a long time between wins though. Hopefully it won’t be that long for the next one,” stated Johnson after his 21st PGA Tour win.

Johnson barely escaped ruin on the fifteenth, when he was forced to pull off his shoes and stand in a pond to hit his ball, which had fallen close to the surface on the wet grass. He did make a good par, only to bogey at the next hole, after a brief hiatus due to threat of lightening.

“Even though there’s no fans here, you can still feel the pressure,” added Johnson after the behind-closed-doors event. “The rain delay didn’t help very much because then I actually had time to think about everything.”

Will Gordon and Canadian Mackenzie Hughes finished tied for third on 17 under. Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy finished tied for 11th after a three-under-par 67 on the last day got him to 13 under.
